Sippable Rocket Pops

As a kid, on hot summer afternoons, I would hound down the local ice cream truck with my eye on a prized Rocket Popsicle. Today I don’t quite have the drive or incentive to hit the street all for a frozen treat, so when I discovered these AND realized I could make them alcoholic, see ya later Jingle Brothers. Here’s my adaptation of an American classic…
Sippable Rocket Pops
  • 1/3 Cup Red Cranberry Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Grenadine
  • 1/2 Cup Sobe Coconut Water
  • 1/3 Cup Blue G2 Gatorade
  • 1 Oz Vodka
  • Ice
You can really use any red, white, and blue beverages you want, the key to this recipe is sugar content. The higher the sugar content, the heavier the liquid. This is simply the concoction that has worked for me and tastes exactly like the popsicle! Feel free to trade out ingredients upon your preference just be sure to check the label before you pour.
Pour the cranberry juice (32g of sugar) in first. Add about a tbsp of grenadine syrup just to add a bit more weight.
The second key to layering this beverage is ice…copious amounts of ice. After you’ve added your “red” to the tumbler, fill the rest with as much ice as you can. Slowly pour the coconut water directly over the ice. You’ll need a bit more “white” than your “red” and “blue” ingredients because seeing how the white is in the middle, a small layer will distribute into your “red” and “blue.” This is also the time to add your shot of vodka if you see fit.
Last but not least, the “blue.” Top the tumbler off with your G2 Gatorade and there you have it, a patriotic punch with a touch of nostalgia. Add a few straws and watch the colors fuse together.
 Happy Fourth of July!
