Spiked & Spicy Cider

‘Tis the season to relish all things fall. Prime apple picking time is upon us, the leaves are slowly beginning to change, and pumpkin flavor infuses all things short from your toothpaste. That being said, I was racing the (now) early setting sun while crafting this seasonal favorite–a minor set back but in a way appropriate seeing how hot apple cider always seems fitting for a cozy night in.
Spiked & Spicy Cider
5 Cups of Pure Apple Cider
1 Cup of Rum
1/2 Tsp of Ground Cloves
3 Cinnamon Sticks
(serves five…)

Combine all above ingredients into a small pot. The cloves with be supplying the “spicy” component so I would add according to taste. Warm the pot on the stove-top, medium heat, for roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Ladle into mugs at home or a thermos for travel and you’re set! I like to add a cinnamon stick or orange peel to each cup for garnish. Perfect for crisp September afternoons or late night October costume parties.
